CITY OF MEMPHIS AND SHELBY COUNTY HOST MILITARY APPRECIATION LUNCHEON
MAYORS SALUTE VETERANS AND ACTIVE SERVICE MEMBERS
Memphis – Memphis Mayor A C Wharton, Jr. and Shelby County Mayor Mark Luttrell, Jr. will host a Military Appreciation Luncheon Thursday, November 13, 2014, at 11:30am, the Holiday Inn – University of Memphis located at 3700 Central Avenue.
The Military Appreciation Luncheon is held each year to salute veterans and active service members, as well as their families, for sacrifices endured while serving their country.
The event speaker is Colonel Mark J. Devine, Tennessee Air National Guard Memphis, Tennessee. It includes special tributes, great food, and good fellowship. Both mayors are grateful to have an opportunity to pay tribute to those who have served and are currently serving this country so selflessly.

All Moms Count Workshop
All non-pregnant women ages 18-34 are invited to participate in a one day educational workshop to learn about having a healthy pregnancy and baby.

Shelby County High School seniors offered free Associate’s Degree
Tennessee Promise is scholarship and mentoring program that begins this fall! Students may use the scholarship at any of the state’s 13 community colleges, 27 colleges of applied technology or other eligible institution offering an associate’s degree program. Soup Sundays are back! Sign up now to donate your favorite recipe. This is a Dominican Republic Mission project. All proceeds go toward services and supplies to support the spiritual education, health and welfare of Haitians and Dominicans living in severe impoverished conditions. Your support has helped provide medical care and personal hygiene products to almost 3,000 people over the past four years. The D.R. Team appreciates everything you do to advance the work of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
