Free Shelby County Preparedness Training

The Shelby County Office of Preparedness has openings for Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) disaster preparedness training. You and your family are welcome to attend!

Presented through lectures, videos, and hands-on exercises, CERT teaches students valuable life-saving skills. Modules include: Preparedness, Terrorism, Triage and First-Aid, Disaster Psychology, Hazardous Materials, Fire Suppression, and Light Search and Rescue. Class dates are on Saturdays, February 29 and March 7. Students must attend both full Saturdays to graduate.

Green Matters for Shelby County Women: Household Hazardous Waste Facility Tour

Join us for the open group “Green Matters for Shelby County Women.”  We will have a brown bag lunch then a tour of the Household Hazardous Waste Facility on February 25, 2015  (12:00 – 1:00pm).   

 We will meet at the Road Department at 6449 Haley Road to hear from Lisa Williams about their operation.  We will then cross the street to see the facility.  Closed toed shoes only, no heels.  Meet at the middle building, parking is in the rear.

 *Bring your own lunch, no RSVP needed*

Soup Sundays are back!  Sign up now to donate your favorite recipe.  This is a Dominican Republic Mission project.  All proceeds go toward services and supplies to support the spiritual education, health and welfare of Haitians and Dominicans living in severe impoverished conditions.  Your support has helped provide medical care and personal hygiene products to almost 3,000 people over the past four years.
